    MLB free agent booms and busts at quarter-season mark: Kevin Gausman, Freddie Freeman strong while Kris Bryant struggles to stay on field

    The shortened MLB free agency was a busy affair that saw a lot of familiar faces end up in new places. The Rangers landed a new middle infield in Marcus Semien and Corey Seager, the reigning AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray ended up in Seattle, and the Blue Jays filled his spot in the rotation with Kevin Gausman. A quarter of the way through the season, we're starting to see the fruits of these signings.

    His pitch got high, so we were hoping to get a little bit more out of him because our bullpen has been pitching a lot, but I’m not going to send him out there with 80 pitches after three anymore. Gray fell behind early, in the top of the first inning early, giving up a one-out walk to Freddie Freeman, then surrendering a two-run home run on a 2-2 fastball up high Trea Turner hit out to center for a 2-0 lead.
