Matt Olson’s tiebreaking three-run homer in the eighth inning lifted the Oakland Athletics to a 6-2 win over Houston Astros on Friday night. The victory comes after the Astros beat the A’s five times in this young season and is just the second win overall for Oakland this year. The game was tied at 1-all when Mark Canha opened the eighth with a single to left field off Bryan Abreu (1-1).
This is a great opportunity for him,” manager Bob Melvin said. He’s getting three games here where he’s getting multiple at-bats … I don’t think he can ask for any more than that. We’re trying to find the best combination on a particular day to go out and potentially score some runs and at this point he’s part of it.
After a sleepy beginning to the 2021 season, the A's rose from their slumber with three homers Friday night in Houston.
