Wade Davis returns to Royals, gets minor league contract

Reliever Wade Davis is returning to the Kansas City Royals, the team he helped pitch to the 2015 World Series title. Davis and the Royals agreed Wednesday to a minor league contract, and the 35-year-old right-hander will go to spring training trying to earn a spot on the major league roster. If added to the 40-man roster, Davis would get a one-year contract paying at a rate of $1.25 million while in the major leagues and $200,000 while in the minors.

Washington snaps 8-game skid, topples Colorado 84-80

Marcus Tsohonis scored a career-high 27 off the bench, Erik Stevenson added 17 points before fouling out, and Washington picked up its first conference win of the season beating Colorado 84-80 on Wednesday night. Tsohonis was brilliant providing the Huskies (2-11, 1-7 Pac-12) a needed punch of scoring off the bench. He topped his career-high of 24 points set just a couple of weeks ago in a loss to Stanford.

Colorado Rockies prospects: No. 20, Tommy Doyle

Prior to his 2020 fast-track to the big leagues, Doyle didn’t move slowly per se, but prospects of that college reliever vintage tend to move faster than he did through the system. In 2017, 2018, and 2019, Doyle moved one step up the minor league ladder at a time, going from Grand Junction to Asheville to Lancaster. Pitching at a league average age in the notorious hitter-friendly environment of Lancaster and the California League, Doyle was good when he was on the mound (he was out all of May).
