On a day when our president was finally broken by partisan networks, Internet trolls and an ultra right-wing Baltimore Orioles slugger, it's nice to receive a reminder that America can still be the land where all of your wildest dreams come true.
Especially when those dreams involve monkeys riding dogs, sheep standing on the top of a pickup truck, the Superman music theme blaring over the loudspeakers and being given a microphone before an enraptured crowd at a Peoria Chiefs game.
This video of Tim "Wild Thang" Lepard and Team Ghost Riders has been online for more than a year, but it's only getting widespread attention now. Because when you discover an opportunity to blockquote the following line ...
"And in 1962, a little boy was born and his dream and his goal .. was to own a monkey."
... you really just can't pass it up.
So God bless Lepard and his animals, God bless each one of you and, most importantly, God bless the United States of America — land of the free, home of the minor league park novelty acts.
