About one of the onlly advantages fans of small market teams have is that they can laugh at the large market teams when players with mega contracts turn into mega burdens. Most MLB fans did this the minute the Dodgers signed Juan Pierre. Most MLB fans will soon be doing it for the rest of the 6+ years the Cubs are tied to Alfonso Soriano.
Currently, the best point-and-laugh situation is the Big Apple, where both first basemen are redefining the term anchor. Despite the fact that they're both in contract years, Jason Giambi and Carlos Delgado are both headed for a non-guaranteed contract with some has-been team come next spring.
If they're lucky.
