Cubs have 'sorting through plenty of offers' for Kimbrel originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Then they took a drastic step up on Thursday when beloved first baseman Anthony Rizzo was traded to the New York Yankees.
Kimbrel is the most desirable bullpen arm "on the market" and according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Cubs are sorting through plenty of offers for his services.
Who blinks first: The asking price, understandably, remains high on #Cubs Kris Bryant, with clubs waiting to see if price drops as we get closer to the deadline. No trade imminent at the moment. Meanwhile, the #Cubs sorting through plenty of offers for closer Craig Kimbrel.

Jayson Stark reports that the Cubs are talking to at least 10 teams about Kimbrel. TEN. A third of the league is talking to the Cubs about trading for Kimbrel.
Buzz I'm hearing this morning:#Padres, #Rays, #Mets and more talking to #Twins about Berrios but asking price remains steep.#Cubs still in discussions with at least 10 teams on Kimbrel.
Both those deals could be last-minute blockbusters with the deadline clock ticking.

According to our own David Kaplan, the White Sox are among the suitors.
Multiple sources have confirmed that the #Cubs and #WhiteSox are continuing to have discussions that would send Craig Kimbrel to the Sox. Price is steep. Several suitors. Stay tuned. The next 2 1/2 hours will get crazy.

And there are multiple reports the Dodgers are still pursuing the closer hours before the deadline.

Dodgers are among teams eyeing Craig Kimbrel. Not sure what their payroll could be but if they land him but their team is heading toward unstoppable.

The Braves were one of those teams, but backed out of the bidding war.
Source confirms: Braves get Adam Duvall from Marlins in addition to Eddie Rosario from Indians. Team also checked in on Kimbrel but does not see itself currently as a factor in the bidding. First on Duvall: @CraigMish.

Kimbrel has found his form after a rocky start to his Cubs tenure. This season Kimbrel has 23 saves and 0.49 ERA in 39 games. And in 36.2 innings, Kimbrel has a 64/13 K/BB ratio.
