Report: Austin Davis finds new team after Red Sox DFA originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

Left-handed reliever Austin Davis reportedly has found a new home after being designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox.

According to MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo, Davis was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. He was DFA'd by the Red Sox on Monday.

The Red Sox originally acquired Davis in a trade that sent infielder Michael Chavis to the Pittsburgh Pirates in July 2021. In his one-and-a-half seasons in Boston, Davis amassed a 5.32 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 69 appearances (71 innings).

Davis joins a Twins club that enters Wednesday only 1.5 games behind the American League Central-leading Cleveland Guardians. They are currently three games off the pace in the AL Wild Card race.

Also DFA'd by the Red Sox on Monday was right-handed reliever Hirokazu Sawamura. The 34-year-old cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Worcester.
