Report: Red Sox bring back infielder on minor league deal originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The Boston Red Sox reportedly made another move to fill out the Triple-A Worcester roster on Friday.

Infielder Jose Peraza was signed to a minor league contract, according to MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo. The 28-year-old played in 34 games for the Red Sox during the 2020 season.

Peraza joins outfielders Abraham Almonte and Danny Santana as recent additions to the short-handed WooSox roster. Worcester needs reinforcements after several players were called up due to injuries to the big-league club.

The New York Yankees released Peraza earlier this month. Along with the Red Sox, he previously played for the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Peraza slashed .225./.275/.342 during his first stint in Boston.
