Adding another 2B option to the mix: The Red Sox are in on Marwin Gonzalez, per sources. Obvious Cora connection from Houston. One of a few versatile options they're looking at.

Gonzalez spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Houston Astros including 2016 and 2017, when Red Sox manager Alex Cora served as Houston's bench coach. The 31-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Minnesota Twins in 2019.
Over the course of his nine-year career, Gonzalez has played every position except catcher and pitcher. While he'd likely spend most of his time at second base in Boston, he can be used in a Brock Holt-like role with his versatility.
Gonzalez hit .211 with five home runs, 22 RBI and a .606 OPS in 2020. His most productive season came in 2017, when he hit .303 with 23 homers, 90 RBI and a .907 OPS.
