Report: Free-agent Castellanos 'drawing interest' from Giants originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The weather is cooling down but the MLB hot stove is heating up.

After coming off a career year, Nick Castellanos is a hot commodity this offseason. Could his next home be San Francisco? MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported Thursday morning that Castellanos is "drawing interest" from the Giants, among other teams. 

Castellanos, who will be 30 in March, set career highs across the board last season with the Cincinnati Reds, putting together a .309/.362/.576 slash line in 138 games. He also hit a career-high 34 home runs and his 136 OPS+ was the best of his career. 

He was named an All-Star for the first time, and also won his first Silver Slugger.

This isn't the first time the Giants have been connected to Castellanos. Giants general manager Scott Harris was with the Chicago Cubs when they acquired Castellanos at the 2019 trade deadline, and could have his eyes on the power hitter yet again.

Castellanos would bring a big power boost to the Giants' lineup. He has averaged 25 home runs since 2017 -- including the 60-game 2020 season. Just imagine him stepping up to the plate at Oracle Park.
