Cubs, Mets trade talks for Kris Bryant have resumed originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is once again linked to the Mets in trade rumors.
SNY's Andy Martino reported Thursday the Cubs and Mets, who had previous discussions regarding a Bryant trade this offseason, have resumed those talks.
On January 6, we reported that any talks between Mets and Cubs on Kris Bryant were no longer active. That was true at the time. TIL it has changed since. Unclear how likely it is to happen, but there is at least something there.

Bryant was linked to New York in multiple reports last month, although those conversations appeared to happen before the Mets acquired superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor from Cleveland.
The Mets have made sense as a potential trade destination for Bryant this winter, as they've shown a willingness to spend under new owner Steve Cohen. They were pursuing reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer before the right-hander agreed to sign with the Dodgers.
The Cubs have long held the policy that no players are untouchable. Team president Jed Hoyer told reporters this week he’s had conversations with players and their agents and is transparent about the status of any potential trade talks.
However, regarding whether he's given Bryant or catcher Willson Contreras assurances that they'd remain on the roster as spring training nears, Hoyer said, "giving them complete assurance is probably impossible at any given time, just given the fact that a phone call can always come in."
Bryant is entering his final season of club control with the Cubs.
