Major League Baseball is hiring former player Raul Ibanez as senior vice president of on-field operations, a source tells SNY.

Ibanez replaces Chris Young, who became the GM of the Texas Rangers earlier this offseason.

The league is also hiring Michael Hill, the former Miami Marlins president of baseball operations who interviewed with the Mets for their vacant GM position earlier this offseason.

If Hill had not taken the job with MLB, he would have been a candidate to help acting GM Zack Scott with the Mets.
