Gerrit Cole - New York Yankees - (vs. Shane Bieber)
Cole has been looking good coming into the playoffs. Over his last 10 games he has a 2.79 ERA averaging 25.1 DK points per game. Cole also has maintained a .210 BAA (batting average against). Not to mention historically, he plays very well against the Indians. Over 69 career at bats against Cole, the Indians are batting .100 as a team with 17 total strike outs. Taking into account Cole’s recent form and his stellar BvP’s, the Yankees starter becomes my top play of the day. The Yankees are favored by -112 with a slate low, 6.5 O/U.

Gary Sanchez - New York Yankees - (vs. Shane Bieber)
Martin Maldonado is 0 for 10 against Maeda. Mike Zunino has not impressed me as of late and Grandel has a ceiling but considering his salary, he’s been too inconsistent for my liking. Gary Sanchez is a process of elimination play. I love the Yankees tonight for GPP purposes. I am aware that they are facing Shane Bieber but on day one of the playoffs, it’s more of a pick your poison kind of slate. Sanchez has been heating up slowly but still not where we want him to be. Select Yankees have hit Bieber in the past over small sample sizes. Gardner, Wade, Frazier, LeMahieu, and Voit are a combined 6 for 11 against Bieber with two doubles and one home run. “Boom or Bust” play of the day at hopefully low roster percentages.
Matt Olson - Oakland A’s - (vs. Lucas Giolito)
Olson has two career home runs against Giolito. The A’s are slight underdogs with a 7.5 O/U. As a team the A’s are batting .292 against Giolito with three home runs and two doubles. Giolito’s overall OPS against Oakland is quite high at .888. Investing in a stacking strategy might not be the best way to go for today’s slate considering most teams have their ace’s on the mound. Investing in Matt Olson as a one-off-play could be the way to go if you want to try something different. Investing in contrarian strategies and players is important, especially in the play-offs.
D.J. LeMahieu - New York Yankees - (vs. Shane Bieber)
LeMahieu will benefit the most if the Yankee’s can best Shane Bieber. The Yankees second baseman comes into this series playing well, batting .333 over his last 42 at bats. As I mentioned above, “Select Yankees have hit Bieber in the past over small sample sizes. Gardner, Wade, Frazier, LeMahieu, and Voit are a combined 6 for 11 against Bieber with two doubles and one home run.” If this narrative plays out, and the Yankees are able to hit Bieber, expect a massive game from LeMahieu in the lead off position.
Gio Urshela - New York Yankees (vs. Shane Bieber)
Urshela has averaged 6.9 Draftkings points over his last 39 at bats with a .333 batting average. The Yankees right handed third baseman should see a plethora of RBI opportunities along with long - ball potential against Cleveland’s Bieber. My bargain bin play of the day is Tyler Wade. You will read about him below, but if he does succeed, Urshela could benefit from runs scored as well. Daily fantasy playoff baseball is very different from the regular season. With only four games on today’s slate, it's up to you to invest in safe but contrarian plays. Investing in a player who performs at below 10% ownership will put you ahead of the field. The Yankees are a contrarian play with upside!
Tim Anderson - Chicago White Sox - (vs. Jesus Luzardo)
The Chicago White Sox are favored by -125 with a 7.5 O/U. Anderson has been struggling leading up to the playoffs with a .118 batting average over his last 42 at bats. If Chicago has any chance at winning tonight, their lead off man must get on base and be aggressive. Anderson is a very streaky player. He carries a massive ceiling (when he’s on) but when he’s off, the White Sox struggle as a team. With Eloy Jimenez out, the White Sox need extra production from their remaining talent. Anderson, Moncada, Grandal and Abreu are all X - Factors for today's slate considering their upside. They could bust at high roster percentages as well.
Other SS Play: Gleyber Torres - New York Yankees (vs. Shane Bieber)
Manuel Margot - Tampa Bay Rays (vs.Robbie Ray)
Ray is allowing righties to bat .283 with 10 home runs this season. The left-handed pitcher has a 6.62 ERA in 2020 and a 5.40 ERA over his last two starts. Ray will be the most targetable pitcher on the slate but expect the Rays to be chalky as well. Invest in right handed power from Tampa for significant upside but try to find a different way to go about it because most will be investing in these Tampa bats.
Tyler Wade - New York Yankees (vs. Shane Bieber)
Wade ended the regular season on a positive note going deep in his second to last game, breaking a long slump. Wade is two for three against Bieber with a double in his career. The back end of the Yankees lineup intrigues me tonight. Players including Brett Gardner, Gio Urshela and Luke Voit have significant potential with a high floor. The Yankees are my top stack of the day. Make sure to check confirmed lineups before lock.
