Monitoring our MLB the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.

We will be looking at a six-game main slate beginning at 7:07 pm ET on Friday, April 9th, 2021.

CASH GAME STACKS

Houston Astros (vs. Oakland A’s - SP Sean Manaea)

The Houston Astros are currently favored at -171 with a 9.0 O/U Courtesy of Pointsbet.com. The NBC Sports Edge + Optimizer has Carlos Correa and Michael Brantley projected for 10.6 and 11.2 fantasy points on DraftKings with salaries hovering in the mid-$4,000 salary range. I will take that on a six-game slate (even at high percentages). Opposing SP Sean Manaea is 0 for 1 with a 9.64 ERA. In his first start against this same Houston Astros squad, he allowed a .333 batting average to both right-handed & left-handed batters but two home runs to opposing left-handed batters. These home runs were allowed to Kyle Tucker and Jason Castro. Correa and Brantley were not in the first matchup of these two teams which for the record was on April, 4th, just five days ago. Baseball is a sport of muscle memory, Houston having seen Manaea this past week is nothing but an advantage for the batters, not the pitchers.

Los Angeles Angels (vs. Toronto Blue Jays - SP David Phelps)

Phelps has four separate, one-inning relief appearances under his belt so far this season. Tonight, he takes the mound as an opener against the Los Angeles Angels. Pointsbet.com has this game as the highest O/U of the night at 11.0. The Angels are batting .254 as a team with 10 total home runs this season. Winning five of their first seven games, scoring 40 total runs over this span, make sure to take a look at the Angels power-bats including Jared Walsh and Mike Trout who have started this season on a great note. If you have the lineup flexibility, roster Trout, it's that simple.

Other Cash Stack(s): Detroit Tigers (vs. Cleveland Indians - SP Zach Plesac)

Top Plays: Carlos Correa, Michael Brantley, Mike Trout & Alex Bregman

Top Value: Akil Baddoo, Wilson Ramos, Jared Walsh & Martin Maldonado

TOURNAMENT STACKS

Cincinnati Reds (vs. Arizona Diamondbacks - SP Taylor Widener)

Sometimes investing in a specific stack makes sense because of one or two specific plays. This is what we have with the Reds and Taylor Widener tonight. Widener tossed 6.0 shutout innings, allowing only three hits, striking out five Padres. This was obviously an amazing start to the season. Do I expect these types of numbers tonight? No, I do not. In 2020, Widener had a 4.50 ERA over 12 games played. He allowed three home runs as well as a .265 batting average to opposing left-handed batters. Today, the lefties that he’ll see from the Cincinnati Reds are Jesse Winker, Joey Votto, Mike Moustakas, Tyler Naquin, and Tucker Barnhart. Not that some right-handed batters can’t get in on the fun as well. One of our top value plays of the slate here at NBC Sports Edge is Jonathan India. India is averaging 11.5 fantasy points per game over his first six games of the season. His salary has remained way too low across the industry. By investing in the Reds, you're riding the hot hand while simultaneously fading possible bad chalk in Taylor Widener. The Reds are favored by -150 with 9.5 O/U Courtesy of Pointsbet.com. You can also invest in the other end of this matchup. Tyler Mahle could potentially be the perfect pivot off of a Cincinnati Reds stack. The perfect GPP matchup.

Other GPP Stack(s): Atlanta Braves (vs. Cincinnati - SP Tyler Mahle)

Top Plays: Jesse Winker, Freddie Freeman, Joey Votto, Mike Moustakas, & Bryce Harper

Top Value: Tyler Naquin, Jonathan India & Tucker Barnhart
