This article outlines the best daily fantasy MLB plays of the day at every position. We take a comprehensive look to uncover these core recommendations, factoring respective salaries into the analysis.
Please note, these player picks were organized early in the day. For MLB contests, always check lineups and weather closer to game time. Rain, wind, or unexpected managerial decisions could open up additional sources of value. Be sure to keep an eye on the MLB Headlines and Injuries desk.
We will be looking at the two-game slate starting at 4:07 ET.
Buehler is the most expensive pitcher on this two-game slate, but I believe he fully deserves that honor. While the matchup against Atlanta is scary, Buehler is easily the most talented hurler taking the bump tonight. The Dodgers’ righty has looked great through two postseason starts: racking up 16 strikeouts through eight innings while allowing just five hits and three earned runs. Hopefully he can be more efficient with his pitch count tonight, which would put him at five or more innings. No matter how you slice it, he’s the best DFS pitcher of the night.
Also Consider: Lance McCullers Jr.

Will Smith - LA Dodgers (vs. Atlanta) - DK: $4,200 FD: $2,900 Yahoo: $20
You could argue that Travis d’Arnaud of the Braves is the best offensive catcher of this slate. However, he’ll be locked into a tough matchup against Buehler and company. That has me leaning towards Will Smith of the Dodgers, who isn’t far behind d’Arnaud in terms of offensive prowess. Smith should see plenty of RBI opportunities while likely hitting fifth for LAD, and he’s fresh off an amazing 5-6 outing last Thursday.
Also Consider: Martin Maldonado
Ji-Man Choi - Tampa Bay (vs. Houston) - DK: $3,800 FD: $2,500 Yahoo: $13
If you have enough cap space leftover, then Cody Bellinger is an intriguing pick at first base. That comes despite the lefty/lefty matchup, as Bellinger has proven his ability to hit southpaws over the past few years …. However, Ji-Man Choi makes for an interesting bargain if you need the savings. He should be hitting cleanup with a righty starting for Houston, and Choi has been able to register double-digit fantasy points in three of his last five playoff games.
Also Consider: Cody Bellinger
Jose Altuve - Houston (vs. Tampa Bay) - DK: $4,700 FD: $3,300 Yahoo: $18
Say what you want about the Astros, but they have really turned things around in the playoffs. That includes Altuve, who looked pretty miserable with a .219 average in the regular season. The Houston second baseman has found his swing, resulting in six hits, two homers, five runs, and five RBI over his last four outings. He’ll look to extend that heater against Tampa RHP Charlie Morton, who carried a mediocre 4.74 ERA into the postseason.
Also Consider: Brandon Lowe
Justin Turner - LA Dodgers (vs. Atlanta) - DK: 4,400 FD: $3,100 Yahoo: $15
Turner is one of my favorite hitters on this slate. That’s not exactly going out on a limb, as the Dodgers’ third baseman has recorded four runs and three RBI over his last three games. Turner should remain productive in a righty/lefty matchup against Max Fried, who allowed six hits and four earned runs through four innings in his last appearance (10/6 vs. Miami).
Also Consider: Alex Bregman
Willy Adames - Tampa Bay (vs. Houston) - DK: $3,300 FD: $2,400 Yahoo: $9
Carlos Correa is probably the best option at shortstop, as he has been red-hot during the playoffs. If you have enough salary to make him work, then that’s probably the way to go in cash games … Having said that, I really like Willy Adames as a cheap filler if you need the savings. He’s also an intriguing tournament choice who will probably have a small backing in this DFS slate. Houston RHP Lance McCullers was roughed-up in his last outing, allowing eight hits and three homers in four innings. As we all know, he loves to throw curveballs (44% of the time). Adames was a top-15 hitter against the curve last season, checking in at 6.9 runs above average against that pitch. Go ahead and keep an eye on the Tampa shortstop as a value choice this evening.
Also Consider: Carlos Correa
Mookie Betts - LA Dodgers (vs. Atlanta) - DK: $5,200 FD: $4,300 Yahoo: $22
The Dodgers have the highest run-scoring projection of this slate, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. As mentioned earlier, Atlanta LHP Max Fried is coming off a tough outing, and now he’s facing an intimidating LAD lineup. Mookie Betts is one of the best hitters within that, and he’ll settle into this compelling righty/lefty draw. Betts has lived up to the hype with seven hits (5 extra-base hits) in five postseason games, and he should keep that going tonight.
George Springer - Houston (vs. Tampa Bay) - DK: $4,800 FD: $4,200 Yahoo: $24
Similar to the other Houston players mentioned in this article, Springer has really stepped up in the postseason. That was particularly on display in the last series against Oakland, where the Astros’ leadoff man recorded multiple hits in two of four games. That included a four-hit game and two-homer game to help Houston advance, and he has an interesting matchup against Tampa RHP Charlie Morton tonight.
