MLB betting: Bettor wins $265K on 14-leg parlay consisting of all unders

The MLB season is less than a week old, but one bettor has already taken full advantage by winning a life-changing amount of money. A bettor at BetMGM won $265,272.29 off a $50 bet on Saturday when his 14-leg parlay hit. The bet consisted of 14 unders on a day where 14 of 15 games went under the total.

Unders ruled the day on Saturday

On Saturday, all 30 MLB teams were in action as the league's first weekend of the regular season got underway. Of the 15 games on the slate, all but one of them went under the pregame total. Under bettors went 14-1 on the day. Usually, that's bad news for casual bettors as most bettors prefer betting games to go over the total and rooting for runs. However, one bettor at BetMGM predicted a low-scoring day and it paid off handsomely for them to the tune of over $265K.

Scoring is usually down in the first few weeks of the MLB season. Pitchers have the advantage as hitters get their timing down and ramp up to face MLB pitching. The shortened spring training only increases that advantage. There's also the weather factor. Temperatures in most northern cities across the country are still pretty low, which makes hitting even harder.

The most impressive part of this parlay bet might be the fact that the bettor correctly left off the under in the Brewers-Cubs game on Saturday. The 9-0 win for the Cubs meant that game went over the total of 7.5 runs. If the bettor blindly parlayed all 15 unders, the parlay would be a loser. But the one game that went over the total was left off the ticket. That in itself is impressive.

  • Chicago White Sox vs. Detroit Under 8.5 (CWS won 5-2)

  • Pittsburgh vs. St. Louis Under 8.5 (STL won 6-2)

  • Texas vs. Toronto Under 9 (TOR won 4-3)

  • Oakland vs. Philadelphia Under 9.5 (PHI won 4-2)

  • Miami vs. San Francisco Under 7.5 (MIA won 2-1)

  • Boston vs. NY Yankees Under 9.5 (NYY won 4-2)

  • Cleveland vs. Kansas City Under 8.5 (KC won 1-0)

  • NY Mets vs. Washington Under 10 (NYM won 5-0)

  • Cincinnati vs. Atlanta Under 10 (ATL won 2-1)
