Mitchell-Watertown basketball contests moved again due to weather

Dec. 19—MITCHELL — For the second time in a week, the Mitchell High School basketball games with Watertown have been moved due to the weather.

With the expectation of extreme cold conditions in South Dakota, Mitchell has already called off school for Thursday, Dec. 22, meaning the Kernels and Arrows will not play their games, which were originally scheduled for Dec. 13.

The girls matchup at the Corn Palace will be played Thursday, Feb. 9, while the boys game at the Watertown Civic Arena is now slated for Saturday, Feb. 18.

Both Kernel teams' next action will be Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the Hoop City Classic, with the Mitchell girls facing Campbell County (Wyo.) at 1:30 p.m. at the Corn Palace, and the same two schools facing off on the boys side at 4:30 p.m. Both teams will play at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30 against Thunder Basin (Wyo.) at the Corn Palace as part of the event.
