The Minnesota Vikings hired former Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak as an assistant head coach and offensive adviser on Monday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Vikings also hired Kubiak’s son, Klint, as their quarterbacks coach and Brian Pariani as their tight ends coach.

The Vikings will also retain offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski, who was promoted to the position on an interim basis for the final three games of the season.

Kubiak coached the Houston Texans for eight seasons from 2006-2013, and spent two seasons with the Broncos, where he helped lead them to a Super Bowl win in 2015 with Peyton Manning at quarterback. He stepped down as head coach in January 2017, but remained with the team as an adviser.

Vance Joseph, who was hired to replace Kubiak, was fired on Dec. 31 after two seasons. The Broncos hired Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio as their new head coach, and it was first thought that Kubiak would remain on staff and help run Fangio’s offense. However, two days later, it was determined that Kubiak would not be part of Fangio’s staff after they realized the two sides had different ideas on both staffing and offensive philosophy.

Klint spent three seasons with the Broncos as an offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach. He previously coached two seasons for the Vikings from 2013-2014 as a quality control/assistant wide receivers coach.

Pariani has spent nearly all of his coaching career with Kubiak, as he was the tight ends coach for the Texans from 2006-2013 and for the Broncos from both 1994-2004 and 2015-16. The 53-year-old has spent nearly 25 years in the league.
