Mike Gesicki says critics should pick a side on Tua Tagovailoa
If you’ve paid any attention to the Miami Dolphins in the last two years, you understand how polarizing of a topic the quarterback play has been.
Fans, media members, and analysts have all gone back and forth regarding the ability that Tua Tagovailoa possesses. There are those that believe Tagovailoa can be a winning quarterback in this league and those who believe that he’s already shown that he can’t.
For Dolphins’ tight end Mike Gesicki, he’s sick of people flip-flopping from one side to the other.
“Yeah, I mean, you obviously hear it,” Gesicki said during his media availability on Wednesday. “I watch SportsCenter every day. You see it. You hear it. It’s not a big deal. It is what it is. It’s just how sports fans and people who talk about it are. The thing that’s frustrating, that’s probably the wrong word, but is the people that are negative and then positive, and then negative and then positive… just pick a side.”
In two years, Tagovailoa has thrown for 3,759 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing 67.4% of his passes for a 91.5 passer rating. Many believe that wins aren’t a statistic that should be attributed to a quarterback, but just for reference, the team is 10-7 in his 17 starts.
As far as Gesicki’s comments, it makes sense. It has to be annoying to see people move the goalposts on their quarterback, but it’s also fair to change an opinion if there’s new evidence to point one direction or the other as long as it’s acknowledged that there’s a change.
