Dunleavy Jr. has glowing description for Klay's injury recovery originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Warriors don't want to get ahead of themselves, but the vice president of basketball operations has been excited to see the progress Klay Thompson has made in his recovery from injury.

"I don't want to get ahead of it, but he looks tremendous," Dunleavy Jr. said on Warriors Live prior to the 115-113 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. "It's not going to be easy for him to come back after missing two years off, but he's in a great spot."

The Warriors have been vague as to when Thompson will be able to return to practice in a full capacity, and are emphatic about wanting to err on the side of safety when it comes to his rehabilitation.

Thompson could be cleared for full practice within the next month, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported on Oct. 14. General manager Bob Myers has indicated a target date somewhere in December in past conversations with the media, and ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported ahead of the season that a Christmas Day game against the Phoenix Suns was the team's target for Klay's first game back.

The five-time All-Star has some added motivation for his return, as Thompson expressed his frustration on Instagram after not being included on the NBA's 75th Anniversary team celebrating the league's 76 best players.

Thompson has been clear about what his singular goal is for his first season back in action since 2019, and he appears to be making great progress toward taking the floor again.
