Mikal Bridges rebuffs Sixers fan’s attempt to recruit him to Philly

The Philadelphia 76ers held the 10th pick in the 2018 NBA draft and they decided to go with a hometown kid, Mikal Bridges out of Villanova. The pick seemed like the perfect fit. Not only was he from the area, but also his mother worked for the Sixers and he had grown up a Sixers fan.

However, Philadelphia traded him to the Phoenix Suns for the 16th pick, which turned out to be Zhaire Smith. The rest is history. Smith played a grand total of 13 games in two seasons due to an unfortunate series of events with injuries and an allergic reaction.

Bridges, meanwhile, has become one of the league’s better 3-and-D players, and he helped the Suns make a trip to the NBA Finals in 2021. He averaged 14.2 points and shot 36.9% from deep for Phoenix in the 2021-22 season.

While Bridges was on Twitter talking about the Phillies, a Sixers fan tried recruiting him back to Philadelphia. The four-year guard denied his request to try and recruit him as he stated his love for Phoenix in bold letters.

Bridges recently discussed how disappointed he was that the Sixers traded him to the Suns as he was very excited to play in Philadelphia. The night was an unfortunate one for everybody involved, but Bridges appears to be thriving in Phoenix alongside Chris Paul and Devin Booker.
