Midgets excel at Williston indoor meet, secures second place

Apr. 2—WILLISTON, N.D. — The Dickinson Midgets boys and girls kicked off their season with impressive performances at the Williston indoor meet, clinching second place in both categories. The boys competed on Tuesday, March 26, while the girls took the stage on March 28.

Displaying remarkable determination and potential, the Dickinson Midgets set a solid foundation for the season ahead.

In a showdown against Minot, the boys secured a commendable second place with a score of 109, while Minot clinched victory with an impressive team score of 198. Similarly, the girls faced tough competition from Williston, who emerged victorious with a team score of 121.4, just edging out Dickinson with a score of 119.9.

The boys showcased their prowess on the track with first-place victories in the 200-meter dash, the 60m hurdles, and the 4x200 relay. Meanwhile, the girls dominated various track and field events, including the 200-meter dash, 4x200 relay, triple jump, long jump, and shot put. Notably, numerous athletes achieved personal records throughout the meet.

Among the standout performances, Blake Weller led the boys with a first-place finish in the 200 meters, clocking in at 23.31 seconds, a personal best. On the girls' side, Jazmin Barry soared to victory in the long jump with a personal record of 19 feet 6 inches.

The Dickinson Midgets are off to a strong start, demonstrating their competitive edge and readiness for the challenges ahead.
