Borussia Dortmund striker Michy Batshuayi has accused Italian fans of making monkey noises during Thursday’s Europa League game between Dortmund and Atalanta.

Shortly after a late goal sent Dortmund through to the round of 16, Batshuayi sent out a tweet simultaneously making the accusation and taunting those who had made the noises.

“2018 and still racists [making] monkey noises in the stands … really ?!” Batshuayi wrote with an accompanying facepalm emoji. “Hope you have fun watching the rest of [the] Europa League on TV while we are through.”

He then concluded his tweet with two hashtags: #SayNoToRacism and #GoWatchBlackPanther. Just perfect.

Batshuayi, who is on loan from Chelsea, is known as an entertaining character, and for letting that character shine through on social media. That was on display here, as he shed light on a serious issue – especially in Italy – while also having some fun with it.
