Michigan's athletic department says there were seven positive tests for COVID-19 within the department this past week.

The Wolverines' weekly update announced five student-athletes and two staffers tested positive between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5. There were 5,295 total individuals tested.

Michigan is in the second week of a two-week shutdown of all athletic activities due to an outbreak of the B.1.1.7 COVID variant within the department.

Michigan has reported fewer cases per week over the past two weekly updates. Last week, the Wolverines said they had 11 positive test results, all from student-athletes; the week prior, there were 22 student-athletes who tested positive for COVID-19.

In total, since testing began, there have been 300 positive tests out of 54,702 total tests administered within Michigan athletics.
