Felton Davis was there to pick up Michigan State teammate Matt Sokol.

With the Spartans leading Bowling Green 14-3 and rolling deep into Falcons territory for another score, Sokol, a junior tight end, had one of the worst drops you’ll see.

There seriously wasn’t anybody within 10 yards of Sokol and quarterback Brian Lewerke delivered a perfect pass. Sokol had to have been surprised at just how open he was and briefly lost concentration for what would have been his first career touchdown.

That drop came on second and goal. On third down, Lewerke looked to Davis in the corner of the end zone. Davis rose up over the defender and hauled in an awesome one-handed touchdown grab to give the Spartans a 21-3 lead.

And as excited as Davis must have been for his second touchdown of the afternoon, Sokol probably felt a whole lot better about his drop.

Coming off a brutal 3-9 record in 2016, Michigan State looks like it will get off to a good start in 2017 with a victory.
