The Michigan State basketball roster is in flux, with guard Rocket Watts entering the transfer portal as Northeastern transfer guard Tyson Walker committed to MSU.

Also in the mix at guard next season will be four-star signee Jaden Akins, last seen at a prep academy in Kansas after leaving Emoni Bates’ father’s Ypsi Prep team partway through the season.

Akins’ departure for Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas, meant Spartans fans keeping an eye on Bates, currently in the class of 2022, missed out on watching Akins' senior year.

Akins will play for Team Honor, which will be coached by former Piston Rasheed Wallace and ex-NBA’er Bonzi Wells. Also of note on Akins’ team: Chet Holmgren, who is considered the nation’s top senior and who faced off against Akins and Bates to open Ypsi Prep’s schedule. Holmgren, who has an offer from Michigan, is still uncommitted.

There are no broadcast plans for the Iverson Classic, but tickets are available at iversonclassic.com.
