Michigan State’s baseball coaching staff will be fighting to hang on to one of their highest rated prospects in the 2021 recruiting class.

Micah Ottenbreit of Trenton High School in Trenton, Michigan, is currently signed into the 2021 MSU recruiting class. He is ranked by Perfect Game Baseball as the No. 97 overall recruit in the country and the No. 2 player in Michigan.

On Monday afternoon, Ottenbreit saw his name flash across the screen, as the Philadelphia Phillies used their fourth round, No. 114 overall selection on the right handed pitcher.

Ottenbreit will now have to decide to either sign with the Phillies, or spend the next three seasons in East Lansing before he is draft eligible once again.
