Michigan State athletics COVID-19 update: No athletes test positive, but one staffer does

Michigan State athletics continues to return negative COVID-19 test results.

All 38 athletes given polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests between Oct. 23 and Wednesday tested negative, with one of 10 staff members rendering a positive result, the school announced Friday.

For the individual who tested positive, daily check-ins with athletic training staff will continue while the person remain remains in isolation, with additional services provided as directed by the medical and administrative staffs. Further testing and physician follow-up will be required prior to returning to any level of workouts.

ANN ARBOR: Michigan athletics reports 13 positive COVID-19 tests this week

Since June, MSU has conducted at least 2,848 PCR tests for COVID-19 on athletes and staff members. There have been 144 positive cases from at least 2,408 tests on athletes, and nine cases out of more than 440 tests on staff members.
