The Michigan men's and women's basketball teams will partake in the newly-created Jumpman Invitational, a multi-team tournament created by Jordan Brand and the Charlotte Sports Foundation, the foundation announced Thursday morning.

The Wolverines, along with Florida, North Carolina and Oklahoma — "the original four teams to sign partnership deals with Jordan Brand in both basketball and football," the foundation said in a statement — will partake in the inaugural tournament in 2022 between Dec. 20-21.

Interestingly enough, the possibility exists for the Wolverines to play the Tar Heels for a fifth time in six years. The two teams are scheduled to meet in Chapel Hill this upcoming season as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge; Michigan and North Carolina previously played each other as part of the challenge in 2017 and 2018, before the two teams met at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas in 2019 as well.

The Wolverines' partnership with Nike began Aug. 1, 2016, and includes use of Jordan Brand apparel for several teams.
