Michigan blows out Villanova 73-46 in rematch of championship game
Last time Michigan played Villanova, the Wolverines were blown out 79-62 in the national championship game.
They more than returned the favor on Monday night in a rematch, beating the No. 9 team in the Associated Press poll 73-46.
No. 19 Michigan led in nearly every statistical category from field goal percentage to assists to points.
Shooting Woes
The Wildcats only put up 17 points in the first half. Yes, 17 points, on 24 percent shooting. They made six baskets in that first half and just two 3-pointers.
Meanwhile, the Wolverines had 44 points on 56 percent shooting. The 27-point deficit was the second worst of Villanova coach Jay Wright’s career. The Wildcats were down 28 against Saint Joseph’s 15 years ago in Wright’s second year at the helm.
On the bright side, this isn't quite the worst first half Jay Wright has ever had at Villanova, only the second worst. Villanova was down 28 to Saint Joe's at halftime on Feb. 3, 2003. (h/t @ESPNStatsInfo)

Per ESPN Stats, Villanova never scored less than 23 points in a half last year.
The second half was slightly better for the Wildcats – they shot 42 percent from the floor, but still just 20 percent from downtown.
No Villanova player had more than eight points.
Michigan’s two leading scorers, Iggy Brazdeikis and Charles Matthews, nearly outscored Villanova on their own.
