Chicago Bulls legend and Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan and his wife Yvette are now the proud parents of identical twin daughters, spokeswoman Estee Portnoy told Steve Reed of The Associated Press on Tuesday:

Portnoy said Tuesday night Yvette Jordan, 35, gave birth to Victoria and Ysabel on Sunday in West Palm Beach, Fla.

"Yvette Jordan and the babies are doing well and the family is overjoyed at their arrival," Portnoy said.

Jordan, who will turn 51 next Monday, and Yvette, née Prieto, reportedly met in 2008, began living together in 2009, and got engaged in 2011. The couple married in April 2013 in Palm Beach, Fla., before hosting a mammoth 2,000-guest reception at the Bear's Club, an exclusive golf course community designed by Jack Nicklaus in Jupiter, Fla., where Jordan built a $12.4 million, 38,000-square-foot home into which they moved last year. (Among their many wedding presents? A giant Upper Deck card.)

The twin girls are the first children for Yvette and the fourth and fifth for Jordan, who had three children with ex-wife Juanita Vanoy — sons Jeffrey, 25, who played college ball at Illinois and Central Florida, and Marcus, 23, who also played at Central Florida, and daughter Jasmine, 21, who is enrolled at Syracuse. Michael and Juanita divorced in 2006 after 17 years of marriage.

Congratulations, Michael and Yvette. Here's hoping Mom gets a chance to rest after bringing twins into the world, and that we soon get word that M.J. remembers to both close his eyes as he deposits those dirty diapers in the dustbin and shrug after they hit the bottom of the can.
