Mia Hoffmann takes 2nd at Detroit Lakes invite in Coleraine to lead Bemidji

Jan. 12—COLERAINE — The Bemidji High School Nordic skiing teams competed at the Detroit Lakes Invite on Thursday in Coleraine, with many BHS boys and girls skiers matching up in fields of 69-plus skiers.

The Bemidji girls took fourth place in a nine-team field with 258 points, while the boys took fifth in a 10-team field with 237 points.

Brainerd (293), Alexandria (286) and Fergus Falls (286) rounded out the top three in the girls race. Brainerd (308), Fergus Falls (273) and Little Falls (246) took the top three spots in the boys race.

In the girls race, Mia Hoffmann took second place with a time of 31:06.31. Next up for Bemidji was Isabel Renn, who placed ninth with a time of 33:02.52.

Maddie Jensen (32nd, 36:14.62); Faye Calvert (37th, 36:56.03); Claire Story (41st, 37:47.69); Anika Harmsen (59th, 39:26.13) and Molly Matetich (62nd, 40:10.01) also competed for the Lumberjacks.

In the boys competition, Reed Kuzel had the best BHS finish, placing 14th with a time of 28:15.07. Levi Renn was next up, taking 18th in 29:13.62.

Leo McKeon (23rd, 29:59.01); Bjorn Krona (25th, 30:03.79); Kolton Meyers (28th, 30:47.17); Liam Larson (34th, 31:43.42); Kaeden Pollock (40th, 32:17.02); Peter Mathews (43rd, 32:30.99) and Jack Hildenbrand (56th, 34:41.24) also competed for the Jacks.
