MHS boys soccer downs Seaman 2-1

Sep. 22—Manhattan High boys' soccer grabbed its first true road win of the year on Tuesday when the Indians took down Seaman 2-1 in Topeka.

Senior forward Marco Zambrano got things going for MHS with a little under 15 minutes into the first half on a deflection of a shot by junior midfielder Cade Cameron.

Manhattan (4-2-1) got its second goal with 15 minutes to play after a nice pass by Grant Snowden to set sophomore forward Jimmy Ramirez up in the box. Ramirez banged a shot off the crossbar, collected his miss and then beat Seaman's goalkeeper to get the second goal.

With 23:13 to play in the second half, Seaman (1-7-1) did stop the MHS shutout, scoring to cut the Indians' lead in half but the Vikings were unable to find the equalizer in the final 20 minutes, giving Manhattan its fourth win of the year.

Up next, the Indians will host one of the top teams in the state in undefeated Washburn Rural (7-0-0) on Thursday.
