Meyers Leonard claps back at Portland radio host on Twitter

Even though Meyers Leonard no longer suits up in a Trail Blazers uniform, he remains a polarizing figure in Portland.

On a night he should have played his first game since being traded to the Heat as part of the Hassan Whiteside trade during the offseason, Leonard remained back in Miami recovering from an ankle sprain.

"I'm a huge Meyers fan!" Daniel Elder, who drove from Bend, Oregon to attend Sunday night's game said. "All of my friends gave me a hard time about it because he had ups and downs. But, I was so excited for him to come back. Then, he got injured and I was really bummed out."

Not all people share in Elder's sentiment, however.

Enter radio host Chad Doing of Rip City Radio 620, who is not a fan of the former Trail Blazers big man.

Doing has referred to Meyers as a "bum" and "garbage" on air in the past. He hasn't held back.

Some of it, at times, was justifiable criticism.

But, if one was looking to board the Meyers Leonard train, Doing would much rather walk to his destination.

And on Sunday night, even though Leonard wasn't able to make his return to Moda Center, the tributes poured in.

Still, Doing wasn't having it...

And then, after all of these years... Meyers responded.

In vintage Meyers Leonard fashion, he even wished Doing a good night. Classic Meyers.

After his response, the support for Meyers came pouring in.

Whether this is the end of it, we'll find out. But, Meyers is comfortable in his role in Miami and the Heat will be a playoff team come April with Leonard starting at center.

Get well soon, Meyers!
