Who's the coach?

Unconventional Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio, nickname El Recreacionista (The Recreationist). Studied at uni in Liverpool where he rented a flat near Melwood so he could spy on training sessions.

Who's the star?

Andrés Guardado, the skipper, is vastly experienced with 138 caps and El Tri are hoping that he can shake off injury to take up his command post in the centre of the park.

Best thing about them

Experience, and consistency. Regulars in the knockout stages, having reached the last 16 in the last six World Cups.

Worst thing about them

Javier Hernandez is a fine marksman but the team can struggle to break teams down and create chances for him, as seen in recent 0-0 with Wales.

You may recognise…

Forward Carlos Vela, a fringe performer at Arsenal and then later with West Brom, currently playing in Los Angeles.

Cameramen will be picking out…

Hirving Lozano, a young winger with tons of talent and the nickname of Chucky. Currently at PSV, and surely a Premier League candidate.

Fans' favourite chant

“Puto!”

A vile homophobic slur at opposing players. An enterprising beer company back home has encouraged fans to instead switch the chant to “Putin!”

On-field prediction

Second in the group, out to Brazil in last 16.

Off-field prediction

Fun fans. Not afraid to keep it simple with a comedy sombrero.
