As the Mets return to play on Tuesday following a hiatus due to positive coronavirus tests within the organization, manager Luis Rojas said he will be without bench coach Hensley Meulens and third base coach Gary DiSarcina for an undetermined amount of time.
In turn, it will be first base coach Tony DeFrancesco moving to third base, and Kevin Boles taking over at first base. Also, Brian Schneider will be the bench coach on top of his quality control coach title for the doubleheader against the Marlins on Tuesday.
Rojas isn't just missing coaches. Tomas Nido and Andres Gimenez also hit the IL for "undisclosed reasons."
The Mets had their weekend Subway Series with the Yankees postponed due to positive coronavirus tests coming from one player and one staffer. Rojas confirmed that the Mets have not had a positive test within the organization since the initial two positive tests last week.
