The Mets lost, 8-4, to the Houston Astros on Tuesday afternoon as their spring training slate continued.

Here are the takeaways...

- Jose Quintana, making his first start of spring training, was hit hard and knocked out with two outs in the first inning after giving up five runs. Quintana allowed three doubles and a home run as the Astros teed off. He threw 30 pitches.

Speaking after the game, Quintana said he felt a little bit rushed by the pitch clock early on in his outing, but placed most of the blame for his poor performance on bad pitch location.

- Edwin Diaz worked around a two-out walk to spin a dominant inning, using his slider to induce two swinging strikeouts. The other out Diaz recorded was a tapper back to the mound off the bat of Jose Abreu. Diaz's fastball topped out at 98 mph.

- Brett Baty stayed hot, stroking an RBI single in his only at-bat. He has three hits in six at-bats this spring, including a homer.

- Ronny Mauricio had two plate appearances. He drew a walk and scored a run in his first one, and flew out to right in his second.

- Francisco Lindor had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk.

- Adam Ottavino danced in and out of a bases loaded situation in a scoreless inning. He walked two, allowed one hit, and struck out one.

- Rule 5 pick Zach Greene, who is looking to nab one of the final spots in the bullpen, allowed one walk and fanned one in a scoreless frame.
