Mets have six prospects ranked in Baseball America's latest Top 100 list
The Mets have six prospects ranked in Baseball America's latest update to their top 100 list for the 2023 season.
The players:
C Francisco Alvarez: No. 6
RHP Kodai Senga: No. 15
3B Brett Baty: No. 31
C Kevin Parada: No. 49
OF Alex Ramirez: No. 89
SS Jett Williams: No. 95
Ronny Mauricio, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Tuesday, did not crack the updated list despite hitting four home runs in 33 spring training at-bats for the Mets.
Mauricio started the season with Triple-A Syracuse and has kept swinging the bat well, hitting two more homers and adding a double and a triple in his first 22 at-bats over five games.
For the Mets who did make the list, each one saw their stock rise at least one place, with Alvarez, Ramirez, and Williams all jumping up three places since January.
Alvarez began the season with Syracuse but is expected to join the big league club for Opening Day with Omar Narvaez potentially headed to the Injured List. The Mets' top prospect had two home runs and four RBI in his first four games at Triple-A.
Senga moved up one spot in the list. The 30-year-old allowed one run on three hits in 5.1 innings against the Miami Marlins in his MLB debut. Senga is scheduled to face the Marlins for a second time Saturday at Citi Field.
Baty is yet another prospect with a pair of homers at Triple-A after he made a strong case to make the Opening Day roster, slashing .325/.460/.425 in 23 games during the spring. With third baseman Eduardo Escobar struggling at the plate to start the season, Baty's return to the big league roster may be coming soon.
Parada, the 11th overall selection in the 2022 MLB Draft, and Ramirez, who signed as an international free agent in 2019, will begin his season with the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones. The pair could make it to Queens in 2024.
Williams, taken 14th overall in the 2022 draft, had a double in two at-bats during the spring after he had eight hits in 32 at-bats in the Florida Complex League in 2022. He is set to start the season with A-ball St. Lucie. Williams might not arrive in the big leagues until 2026, but he could be an impact player in the infield or center field.
