The Mets have signed speedy outfielder Tim Locastro to a minor league deal that contains an invitation to big league Spring Training, per multiple reports.

New York was in serious need of outfield depth, with only Brandon Nimmo, Starling Marte, Mark Canha, and Khalil Lee on the 40-man roster.

Locastro, 30, has hit just .227/.325/.331 in six big league seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Yankees.

But while Locastro doesn't provide much offense, he is capable of playing all three outfield positions and has blazing speed.

Locastro's sprint speed in 2022 was in the 99th percentile. It was in the 100th percentile in 2021, 2020, and 2019.
