The Mets will hold the dedication for the new Tom Seaver statue on July 22 at Citi Field, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

The club announced plans for the statue in 2019, unveiling the design on June 27, 2019 at the newly named 41 Seaver Way at Citi Field.

The statue will be placed near the Home Run Apple outside the main entrance of the ballpark.

Seaver, the most iconic player in Mets history, died on Aug. 31, 2020 at the age of 75 after a battle with dementia.

The Mets are wearing a "41" patch on the sleeve of their jerseys this season in honor of Seaver.

Prior to announcing the statue in 2019, now-former Mets COO Jeff Wilpon, Howie Rose, members of Seaver's family, and his teammates from the 1969 team gathered outside Citi Field for the 41 Seaver Way unveiling.

"We were so happy to be part of this ceremony and our father is so honored and humbled to be memorialized in these ways," Sarah Seaver Zaske and Anne Seaver said. "We thank the amazing fans for their outpouring of love and support."
