After a dominant April, Mets ace RHP Jacob deGrom was named National League Pitcher of the Month on Monday.

Among other stats, deGrom led the NL in ERA (0.51) and strikeouts (59).

Through five starts, deGrom is 2-2, scattering five runs (two earned) on 16 hits with 59 strikeouts to four walks in 35 innings pitched.

The high point of a strong start to 2021 was a 15-strikeout performance April 23 in the Mets' 6-0 win over the Washington Nationals, a complete-game two-hitter with zero walks on 109 pitches (84 strikes).

As the Mets (11-11) begin a four-game series at the St. Louis Cardinals (16-12) with Monday's 7:45 p.m. start on SNY, deGrom nears his next outing.

He is set to start Tuesday's 7:45 p.m. game on SNY. St. Louis is slated to go with LHP Kwang Hyun Kim.
