Mets have five prospects on Baseball Prospectus' new Top 101 list, including RHP Christian Scott

Despite graduating numerous top prospects last season, the Mets still have a very good farm system, as evidenced by the five prospects who were named on Baseball Prospectus' new Top 101 list for 2024.

Those prospects:

INF Jett Williams: No. 23
OF Drew Gilbert: No. 29
OF Ryan Clifford: No. 76
INF Luisangel Acuña: No. 77
RHP Christian Scott: No. 88

Three of the above prospects were acquired in midseason trades last season when the Mets dealt Max Scherzer to the Texas Rangers and Justin Verlander to the Houston Astros.

Acuña was the return from Texas, while the Mets received Gilbert and Clifford from Houston.

President of baseball operations David Stearns recently said that Gilbert will begin the season with Triple-A Syracuse, putting him a phone call away from the majors.

Acuña, who finished last season with Double-A Binghamton, could also be in Triple-A to start the year.

Williams made a serious impression in 2023 during his age-19 season, raking through three levels of the minors and finishing with Binghamton, where he'll begin the 2024 campaign.

Clifford finished last season with High-A Brooklyn.

Meanwhile, Scott's inclusion on the BP list is notable.

The Mets are largely devoid of potential impact starting pitching prospects who are close to the majors, but Scott performed very well in 2023 across three levels, finishing with Binghamton.

In 19 starts, Scott had a 2.57 ERA and 0.85 WHIP while striking out 11.0 batters per nine.

He could potentially make his big league debut this season.
