Mets 1B/OF/DH Dominic Smith has been nominated for the 2020 Hank Aaron award, given out each year to the "most outstanding" offensive performer in each league.
Along with Smith, Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman, Los Angeles Dodgers SS Corey Seager, Philadelphia Phillies OF Bryce Harper, San Diego Padres 3B Manny Machado, St. Louis Cardinals 1B Paul Goldschmidt, and Washington Nationals OF Juan Soto have been nominated for the award, which will be voted on by fans at MLB.com/hankaaronaward.
A Hall of Fame panel including Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr., and Johnny Bench will also be voting.
Smith, 25, had a breakout season, hitting .316/.377/.616 with 10 homers, 21 doubles, and 42 RBI in 50 games.
The 2020 campaign by Smith followed up an impressive 2019 season, where he hit .282/.355/.525 with 11 homers in 89 games.
