Mets outfielder Dom Smith and reliever Miguel Castro have been fined an undisclosed amount for their roles in the on-field incident with Philadelphia Phillies reliever Jose Alvarado during Friday's game.

The MLB announced that Alvarado was issued a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his role for inciting the benches-clearing incident in the top of the eighth inning.

The suspension of Alvarado had been scheduled to begin tonight, when the Phillies continue their series against the Mets. However, Alvarado has elected to appeal and therefore his discipline will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.

After the game, Smith had some strong words for Alvarado, saying, 'he can meet me in the tunnel tomorrow if he really wants to get after it'.
