Some Mets fans still curiously refer to Brandon Nimmo as a fourth outfielder despite elite offensive production, but the MLB Network rankings of the top 100 players in baseball tell a different story.

Nimmo was ranked at No. 89 among the top 100 players in the game, right behind Alex Verdugo of the Boston Red Sox and Yoan Moncada of the Chicago White Sox.

Earlier this offseason, Nimmo was ranked by MLB Network's The Shredder as the fifth-best center fielder in baseball.

Nimmo hit .280/.404/.484 in 55 games in 2020 and has slashed .257/.397/.465 in 264 games since 2018.

At the moment, Nimmo is expected to be the Mets' starting center fielder in 2020 despite the fact that he does not profile there defensively.

If the universal DH is added to the National League for the 2021 season at some point between now and Opening Day, there is a chance the Mets sign elite center field defender Jackie Bradley Jr. and slide Nimmo to left field -- where he would be a perfect fit.
