After the termination of Jared Porter as the Mets' GM, team president Sandy Alderson said that he was confident with the group currently in-house to get the job done moving forward.

Well, that ringed true when the Mets announced Zack Scott would be promoted from assistant GM to acting GM.

"Zack has plenty of championship experience to draw upon," Alderson said in the official statement. "He has been an integral part of our decision-making processes since his arrival. The entire baseball operations staff, including myself, will continue to work collaboratively.”

As SNY's Andy Martino reported over the weekend, Scott has been filling the void of Porter because he was next of rank in the front office. But now it's official that he's leading as GM in an interim basis.

"What I expect, with the group we have now, that we will move forward toward the end of the offseason and move into spring training [and the] regular season. It was late in the process when we made the search for the general manager. It’s even later now," Alderson said recently.

"The other thing is that we’re on a certain trajectory, I think a successful one to this point. And while Jared presents a void, I’m very confident in the group that we have that we can move forward and move forward effectively.”

Scott is a new face in the organization, having spent the last 17 years with the Boston Red Sox before joining the Mets in Queens. He worked his way up from a baseball operations intern to assistant GM with the Sox.
