In 11 starts in the minors this year, the righty has a 0-5 record with a 5.04 ERA.

The Mets are calling up right-handed pitcher Sean Reid-Foley, according to multiple reports. Right-hander Reed Garrett was optioned in a corresponding move, manager Buck Showalter announced later on Wednesday.

This will be Reid-Foley's first time back in the majors since he underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2022.

In 22 appearances (two starts) across New York's minor league clubs (the majority at Triple-A Syracuse) this season, the 27-year-old has pitched to a 4.09 ERA with a 1.000 WHIP surrendering 10 runs on 11 hits with 11 walks and 33 strikeouts. He has been tagged for five home runs.

He has now appeared in nine games on the year (seven with Milwaukee and one with Los Angeles) pitching to a 5.40 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 13.1 innings. He came to New York after being claimed off the Dodgers’ waivers on Aug. 4.

Aug. 2, 3:46 p.m.

The Mets announced that newest prospects Drew Gilbert and Jeremiah Jackson were assigned to Double-A Binghamton on Wednesday.

Gilbert, the outfielder acquired from the Houston Astros in the Justin Verlander trade, is now the Mets' No. 4 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. Jackson, the organization's No. 22 prospect, was acquired in a deal with the Los Angeles Angels for reliever Dominic Leone.

The Rumble Ponies continue a six-game homestand Wednesday and there's a possibility they both are in the lineup.

Meanwhile, outfielder Ryan Clifford, who was also acquired in the Verlander trade, has been assigned to High-A Brooklyn.

Aug. 1, 6:30 p.m.

Following the deadline, New York has recalled right-hander John Curtiss, lefty Josh Walker, catcher Michael Perez, and outfielder Rafael Ortega from Triple-A Syracuse.

Curtiss, Walker, and Perez have made appearances with the Mets already this season but this will be Ortega's debut in orange and blue.

The veteran outfielder, who signed a minor league deal with the team, posted a .379 on-base percentage with seven doubles and six stolen bases through 30 games with Syracuse.

July 28, 3:45 p.m.

After trading David Robertson to the Miami Marlins, the Mets have recalled RHP Reed Garrett from Triple-A Syracuse.

In three big-league seasons, Garrett has played for three clubs and appeared in two games for the Baltimore Orioles this year, pitching to a 10.13 ERA. In 22 career appearances, the right-hander is 0-1 with a 7.90 ERA.

However, in 25 minor-league games this season between the Norfolk Tides and Syracuse Mets, the 30-year-old has a 2.45 ERA -- although, in six games with Syracuse, he owns a 5.40 ERA.

Additionally, LHP Josh Walker will serve as the 27th man on Saturday night.

July 20, 4:12 p.m.

While Buck Showalter wouldn't commit publicly to an official move on Thursday afternoon, SNY's Andy Martino reports that outfielder/infielder Mark Vientos is getting called up from Triple-A.

With Starling Marte on the IL due to migraines and Tommy Pham leaving Thursday's loss to Chicago with a groin injury, the Mets needed some outfield help, and Vientos certainly fits the bill.

The 23-year-old slugger had a 16-game stint with the Mets earlier this season, slashing .178/.224/.244 with a home run and 5 RBI.

Vientos should be available for this weekend's series against the Boston Red Sox.

July 14, 5:13 p.m.

As Jose Quintana returns to the Mets rotation, the team made room for the lefty by designating T.J. McFarland for assignment. Mets GM Billy Eppler announced the move prior to Friday's game against the Dodgers.

Eppler explained that the move to get Quintana back on the roster had to be made Friday, but the lefty is scheduled to pitch Wednesday.

McFarland made three appearances for the Mets this season, getting two strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched. He had a 0-1 record with a 5.40 ERA and 3.00 WHIP in his limited run with the team.

Quintana's insertion into the rotation also means that David Peterson will move to the bullpen.

"David Peterson, for now will, be in the bullpen," Eppler said. "Then we'll see how we move in the next seven to 10 days."

However, the team will evaluate how Peterson does in the pen as well as how Quintana performs to see if this is how they'll operate moving forward.

July 9, 3:11 p.m.

Denyi Reyes cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse, remaining in the Mets' organization after getting designated for assignment last Tuesday.

July 6, 6:35 p.m.

The Mets announced Thursday that they have officially released RHP Chris Flexen after being designated for assignment earlier this week.

Flexen's contract was unique in that he could not be outrighted to the minors after clearing waivers without his consent, hence why he was outrighted.

The Mets acquired Flexen in a trade with the Mariners on Monday. The Amazin's acquired Flexen and right-hander Trevor Gott in exchanged for lefty Zack Muckenhirn.

The Mets will eat the remainder of the 29-year-old's salary.

July 4, 1:43 p.m.

The Amazins' made a myriad of moves before their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Namely, recently acquired reliever Trevor Gott was activated and will be available to pitch in the series opener.

DJ Stewart will also be in uniform on Tuesday as the outfielder was called up from Triple-A prior to the game.

Stewart played five seasons with the Orioles and has power from the left side as he has 26 home runs in 527 big-league at-bats. The 29-year-old had 16 home runs and a .878 OPS in 51 games for Syracuse this season.

To make room for Gott and Stewart, the Mets sent Jeff Brigham and Danny Mendick down to Triple-A. They also designated RHP Denyi Reyes for assignment.

July 3, 1:08 p.m.

RHP Elieser Hernandez has been reinstated from the IL after returning from his rehab assignment and was optioned to Triple-A.

The 28-year-old began the season on the IL with a right shoulder strain and has yet to throw a pitch for the Mets after getting traded by the Miami Marlins, along with RHP Jeff Brigham, during the offseason.

New York also designated LHP Zach Muckenhirn for assignment. The lefty appeared in three games for the Mets, pitching to a 6.00 ERA (2.17 WHIP) over six innings.

June 27, 4:30 p.m.

The Mets have officially called up David Peterson ahead of Tuesday night’s start against the Milwaukee Brewers.

After a strong spring training, the lefty cracked the starting rotation, but struggled mightily. Peterson recorded a 8.08 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, and allowed eight homers over his first eight starts of the year before being sent to Triple-A.

He now returns looking to right the ship.

In a corresponding roster move, Vinny Nittoli has been optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse. The right-hander didn't allow a run across two appearances this weekend in Philadelphia.

June 26, 4:35 p.m.

The Mets are calling up left-hander T.J. McFarland and optioning left-hander Josh Walker to Triple-A Syracuse prior to Monday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.

McFarland, 34, made 23 appearances out of the bullpen at Syracuse this season and allowed 12 runs (10 earned) on 30 hits in 32.2 innings good for a 2.76 ERA and 1.439 WHIP. He has walked 17 batters and struck out 37. He made 28 appearances for St. Louis a season ago and pitched to a 6.61 ERA (5.32 FIP) in 32.2 innings.

Walker is coming off a rough outing on Sunday in which he allowed one hit and walked two and was charged with three earned runs. Over seven games this season with the Mets he has allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits with six walks and five strikeouts in six innings. The 28-year-old appeared in six games in June during his second stint in Queens on the season. He has pitched to a 1.45 ERA in 18.2 innings at Triple-A in 2023.

McFarland overlapped with manager Buck Showalter in Baltimore from 2013-2016, beginning his career with the Orioles as a Rule 5 draft pick.

Relief pitcher Drew Smith was also reinstated from his 10-game suspension.

June 24, 11:24 a.m.

The Mets are recalling infielder Danny Mendick from Triple-A Syracuse to fill the vacant spot on the 26-man roster after trading Eduardo Escobar to the Los Angeles Angles on Friday, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.

In 68 games with Syracuse this season, the 29-year-old infielder has eight home runs and 35 RBI and slashed .264/.356/.401 for a .757 OPS in 317 plate appearances. He has walked 35 times to go along with 47 strikeouts. Mendick can play second base, third and shortstop.

Last season for the Chicago White Sox, Mendick slashed .289/.343/.443 with a .786 OPS and a 121 OPS+ in 31 games. He had eight extra-base hits and 15 RBI with seven walks and 23 strikeouts in 106 plate appearances before an ACL tear ended his 2022 season on June 22.

Mendick signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Mets in December 2022 after spending his entire in the White Sox organization. He hit .200/.259/.360 in 25 at-bats in the Grapefruit League this spring before being optioned to Triple-A ahead of Opening Day.

In 151 big league games over four seasons, Mendick has a career .251 batting average and a .675 OPS (85 OPS+) with 13 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 45 RBI.

Escobar was dealt (with cash considerations) for a pair of minor league pitchers, Coleman Crow and Landon Marceaux, during the Mets' 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.

June 22, 8:05 p.m.

After struggling in his his last outing on Wednesday against the Houston Astros, the Mets have optioned RHP Tylor Megill to Triple-A Syracuse.

Megill allowed four runs on four hits over just 2.1 IP with four walks and two strikeouts, but escaped with a no-decision in New York's 10-8 loss.

The 27-year-old has had an up-and-down season, going 6-4 with a 5.17 ERA over 15 starts with 58 strikeouts in 71.1 innings of work. Megill has pitched to a 6.68 ERA over his last seven starts (23 earned runs in 31.0 IP), going 2-2 in those outings.

In a corresponding move, New York is expected to call up right-hander Vinny Nittoli before Friday’s series opener against the Phillies, according to numerous reports.

The Mets acquired Nittoli from the Cubs in a deal earlier this month.

He has a 5.06 ERA across 5.1 innings with Syracuse so far but has recorded three consecutive scoreless outings. Overall on the season, Nittoli has a 3.81 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 21 appearances in Triple-A.

The 25-year-old has allowed three home runs and walked 15 batters while striking out 35. He has finished 11 games for the club and has recorded three saves.

Hartwig has been assigned the No. 93 jersey and his first appearance will be his major league debut. He joined the organization as a free agent signing out of college in 2021.

Curtiss, who has been back and forth between Syracuse and Queens this season, made two appearances in his latest stint with the big league club.

He allowed one run (a Jordan Walker homer) on two hits with one walk and a strikeout in 2.2 innings of work in Sunday's game. He has pitched to a 4.08 ERA (5.26 FIP) in 17.2 innings for the Mets in 2023.

June 15, 2:15 p.m.

The Mets announced on Thursday that they’ve activated RHP Stephen Ridings from the injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Mets claimed Ridings off waivers from the Yankees this offseason. He was placed on the 60-day IL in early May due to a lat strain he suffered in spring training.

He's been working his way back since, and has thrown three rehab appearances with Low-A St. Lucie, including a perfect inning with a pair of strikeouts on Wednesday.

With the bullpen a bit shorthanded this week, Ridings could be making his Mets debut sooner rather than later.

Minnick spent the past two seasons in the minors with the Bombers, pitching to a 3.00 ERA and 1.07 WHIP while striking out 147 batters.

He's made just one appearance at Triple-A and struggled, but was dominant in Double-A last season. Minnick led the league with a stellar 0.74 WHIP and struck out 62 batters over 59.2 innings.

He is yet to pitch this season.

June 10, 1:10 p.m.

In a pair of corresponding moves, right-hander John Curtiss and left-hander Josh Walker were both recalled from Triple-A.

Hunter struggled in his last two outings, pitching on both Thursday and Friday night, and allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits with three home runs in 2.2 innings. The 36-year-old appeared in 14 games this season and allowed 20 runs (18 earned) over 23.2 innings for a 6.85 ERA (5.77 FIP).

The 27-year-old southpaw posted a 0.90 ERA and struck out 34 batters across 15 appearances this season with the Gastonia Honey Hunters in the Atlantic League.

Prior to that, Thomas spent five seasons in the Texas Rangers organization and reached as high as Triple-A. He pitched to a 3.78 ERA and struck out 263 batters in that span.

June 3, 1:50 p.m.

Prior to Saturday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Mets announced a pair of roster moves.

The Mets will add the 32-year-old to their 40-man roster, but he can be optioned to the minor leagues, MLB.com's Anthony DiComo reported. Nittoli had exercised an opt-out clause on his minor league deal with the Cubs leading to the trade.

Prior to Tuesday night’s series opener with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Mets optioned David Peterson to Triple-A Syracuse.

After a breakout 2022 season, and strong spring showing, many expected Peterson to be strong depth for the Mets’ starting rotation. That, however, has not been the case so far in 2023.

Peterson has struggled mightily through eight starts, posting an 8.08 ERA and 1.74 WHIP. In his most recent outing, Monday against the Nationals, he allowed six runs over five innings.

With Carlos Carrasco set to rejoin the rotation later this week, Peterson can go back down to Triple-A and work through his kinks.

In a bit of an interesting corresponding roster move, the Mets have sent Joey Lucchesi down to Syracuse.

The left-hander is the "current" active pitcher in this afternoon’s suspended game. Lucchesi allowed one run on four hits across two innings of work prior to the game being called.

Inclement weather stopped the Mets from playing Saturday, but the team announced right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino was reinstated from the paternity list.
