The fate of mermaid-centric TV drama Siren has been revealed, and it's not good news. Yeah, you thought this was going to be a renewal article, didn't you? Not this time!

As reported by TVLine, Freeform (the TV channel that was previously known as ABC Family) decided to pull the plug on the series. The publication states that the show dropped a lot of viewers since its second season, although it was still ranking highly when compared to other Freeform shows.

Unfortunately, that means that the season 3 finale, which ended with a big cliffhanger regarding Ben's location, is now the overall finale for the show.

Hopefully fans will get some closure through a short story or some other way!

Ryn actress Eline Powell addressed the cancellation on her Instagram, where she shared her first-ever set photo. She wrote: "It’s the end of a true blissful journey. All I feel is peace and gratitude for the honour of playing Ryn. It has been the happiest adventure because of the people, my now dear dear friends I love you all.

"Thank you to Eric and Emily and all those that created this world and took a chance on me. I have swum deep and felt so free. Thank you to all merms and honorary merms of the siren family who dove into the world of magic and mystery with passion and dedication. It was a ride I will cherish forever.

"And of course the siren fans. Thank you. Thank you, you made it the best of all. If you loved our show, continue to swim, honour the ocean and open your mind to others that are different to you, that live and think and look not like yourself."
