Memphis men's basketball schedule: Late-season games vs. FAU highlight 2023-24 AAC slate

Penny Hardaway's Memphis basketball team will have to wait until the last two weeks of the regular season to avenge its 2023 NCAA tournament loss to FAU.

The 18-game AAC portion of the Tigers' schedule, announced Friday, features a home matchup Feb. 25 with the Owls (one of six first-year AAC members). The rematch in Boca Raton, Florida,, is set for March 9 and closes out the regular season for both teams. UTSA, Rice, North Texas, UAB and Charlotte are the league's other newcomers.

Tip-off times and broadcast details for all games will be announced at a later date.

Memphis' stout nonconference slate was formally announced in August. Home games with Clemson, Virginia and Vanderbilt; road dates at Texas A&M, Missouri and Ole Miss; plus a strong Battle 4 Atlantis tournament field in the Bahamas, give the Tigers a chance to face nine Power Five teams before AAC play begins.

Hardaway's squad, which underwent an extreme makeover this offseason, opens league play at Tulsa (Jan. 4) before hosting SMU on Jan. 7 (in its final season before moving to the Atlantic Coast Conference) and UTSA (Jan. 10).

Other AAC highlights this season include potential Quad 1 opportunities in a one-week span: at Tulane (Jan. 21) and at UAB (Jan. 28). The Green Wave will be led by a talented trio in Jaylen Forbes, Kevin Cross and Sion James. UAB — the National Invitation Tournament runners-up last season under former Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy — will be Memphis' opponent on Senior Day (March 3).

Memphis will play NIT champion North Texas (under new coach Ross Hodge) once in the regular season (Feb. 15 at the Super Pit in Denton). The Tigers host defending CBI champion Charlotte the following week (Feb. 21).
