Mel Kiper, Todd McShay combine to mock CB, WR to Cardinals

Because the NFL draft is a little more than a week away, there will be a flood of final mock drafts. The latest is a collaboration from ESPN’s Mel Kiper and Todd McShay. They alternate picks playing GM for each team for three rounds.

The Cardinals do not currently have a third-round pick, we get a look at two players who get the call from them.

Check out the picks below.

Round 1: South Carolina CB Jaycee Horn

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

McShay picks Horn at No. 16 for the Cardinals, which is about as perfect a pick as there can be.

Both outside CBs are on one-year deals, and Horn is a tough press corner with wheels. Arizona needs someone who can square up with the elite NFC West receivers now that Patrick Peterson is elsewhere.

He is perhaps the best player at the position — a premium position — and it is the Cardinals' greatest need both now and long-term. The only question is whether or not he is available. It is a no-brainer if he is.

Round 2: Clemson WR Amari Rodgers

Syndication: The Greenville News

Kiper makes this pick for the Cardinals at No. 49, their second-round pick.

Rodgers is one of the best slot receivers in this class, and Kyler Murray needs an underneath target who knows how to get open. Christian Kirk is in the final year of his rookie contract.

He is small at 5-9 1/2 but has a big frame at 212 pounds. He would have an immediate connection with DeAndre Hopkins because of having gone to Clemson. He would be able to compete for playing time in the slot in 2021 and could allow the Cardinals to move on from Kirk if he has another mediocre or injury-riddled season.
